There are three types of posts that a user can create: Sell, Donate, and Giveaway.
- Sell: These posts are available to both for-profit and non-profit recipients (unless the "Audience" is adjusted otherwise). Sale transactions occur when the supplier sets a price for the food offered on the marketplace. These posts require both parties to have bank information linked via Stripe. An example transaction: 1,500 pounds of frozen chicken with 35 days of shelf-life, available for $0.50 per pound.
- Donate: These posts are only available to non-profit recipients, do not involve payment, and must be used for the care of the needy, ill or infants. 501(c)3 organizations will be screened by Spoiler Alert to ensure that the donor organizations can recognize the donation for qualified tax deduction purposes. "Value" is requested to assist the donor with tax documentation. An example transaction: 750 pounds of gleaned potatoes valued at $0.30 per pound.
- Giveaway: These posts are available to both for-profit and non-profit recipients. The product is free, however there is a small transaction fee. Giveaways are ideal for circumstances when both parties benefit from not paying for the product or receiving compensation for the exchange. An example transaction: 500 loaves of stale bread distributed between a bakery and a farm with the intent of using it for animal feed.
